Su obra \u2014novelas, cuentos orientales, incluso libretos de \u00f3peras\u2014, influida por autores como Borges, Nabokov o Cort\u00e1zar, suelen presentar universos paralelos, realidades escindidas, hombres y mujeres en busca de su aut\u00e9ntica alma y reivindica constantemente la capacidad sanadora de amor y la fuerza de la imaginaci\u00f3n para cambiar el mundo o para crear nuevos mundos.En La m\u00fasica del mundo, Block, un joven de misterioso pasado, y su amigo Jaime buscan en la naci\u00f3n imaginaria de Pa\u00edses una entrada a la fabulosa Regi\u00f3n Confabulada, de la cual hay m\u00faltiples pistas en las Biblioteca Nacional, la embajada de Estonia, etc&#8230; Al tiempo se trenza una historia de amor entre Block y Estrella, en los fant\u00e1sticos lugares de la ciudad, como el Parque Servadac, habitado por todo tipo de seres m\u00edticos\u2026La m\u00fasica del mundo, agraciada con el premio Ojo Cr\u00edtico, es una novela llena de magia, fantas\u00eda y referencias literarias. Raras veces se encuentra en la literatura espa\u00f1ola contempor\u00e1nea una novela de tal ambici\u00f3n y capacidad creativa. Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez levanta con la fuerza de su imaginaci\u00f3n todo un pa\u00eds, con su historia, geograf\u00eda, sus pr\u00f3ceres y su idiosincrasia, un curioso pa\u00eds centroeuropeo, reflejado en un texto donde se vislumbran reminiscencias de Rayuela, las vanguardias, Nabokov y muchos otros autores. En muchas partes prolijo y moroso, quiz\u00e1s demasiado lento, se le puede achacar que peca de carecer de un argumento claro y de mostrarse en forma demasiado \u00abbruta\u00bb, como si fuera un derroche de creatividad no pasado por la inevitable exigencia de una m\u00ednima intriga y de un progreso narrativo. De todas formas, es un libro de alta calidad, donde se pueden encontrar reflexiones sobre arte, m\u00fasica, literatura, adem\u00e1s de ser todo un manifiesto de Ib\u00e1\u00f1ez sobre su visi\u00f3n del g\u00e9nero fant\u00e1stico. El autor, como en sus otros libros, reivindica los cuentos de hadas y la fantas\u00eda m\u00e1s desbordada. Tambi\u00e9n un concepto un poco elitista de la literatura. No es una novela f\u00e1cil de leer, no solo por la ya citada ausencia de argumento y de construcci\u00f3n novelesca convencional, sino por las referencias a otros autores y novelas.
