Son la parte menos conocida de su producci\u00f3n literaria, pero es la que \u00e9l m\u00e1s amaba y en la que trabaj\u00f3 desde su adolescencia hasta el final de su vida. Es en los relatos donde Pirandello se muestra m\u00e1s natural e imaginativo y contienen la clave de su gran capacidad para crear personajes.Por la diversidad de temas, estilos y estructuras estos cuentos suponen un fresco, lleno de humor y ternura, de la Italia de la \u00e9poca \u2014especialmente de su Sicilia natal\u2014, que nos hace entender la cultura y la sociedad de aquel pa\u00eds, a la vez que representa la condici\u00f3n humana.Pirandello escrib\u00eda en una carta a su hermana: \u00abYo vivo por la alegr\u00eda de ver narrar la vida desde mis p\u00e1ginas, extray\u00e9ndola de mi cuerpo, de mi sangre, de mi carne, de mi cerebro. Es un trabajo constante de destrucci\u00f3n para crear\u00bb.
