El legado de sabidur\u00eda recibido de su amado maestro durante la infancia lo convertir\u00e1 en un nativo con una formaci\u00f3n excepcional en el \u00c1frica austral. Sus conocimientos comenzar\u00e1n a dar fruto en la traves\u00eda que har\u00e1 como esclavo en 1870 en el \u00faltimo barco negrero que lleg\u00f3 a La Habana. En la bodega del buque, en la situaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s hostil e inhumana imaginable, nacer\u00e1 Ojosdeagua, un ni\u00f1o que desde su nacimiento ser\u00e1 el eje de la existencia del joven san. Ya en Cuba, siendo parte de las posesiones de un amo singular, el v\u00ednculo afectivo entre el muchacho y el ni\u00f1o forjar\u00e1 el destino de ambos. La vida de los dos protagonistas encarna un gran paso en nuestra historia. Ellos, como los \u00faltimos esclavos vendidos bajo la legalidad y convencidos de que el conocimiento es la llave de la libertad, cierran una puerta que nunca debi\u00f3 abrirse. Bahati y Ojosdeagua representan la lucha y la superaci\u00f3n desde la perspectiva de la sabidur\u00eda.
