En este sentido, es un ensayo social con bases filos\u00f3ficas, sobre todo en ideas de Antropolog\u00eda filos\u00f3fica, las cuales el autor relacion\u00f3 con la cultura, la naturaleza y la historia de Argentina, todo ello para dotar de sustento a su propuesta del gaucho como representante de la argentinidad. Es cierto, el autor utiliz\u00f3 este trabajo para fundamentar su posici\u00f3n pol\u00edtica en favor del peronismo. Apoyo que \u2014en la edici\u00f3n de 1964\u2014 se transform\u00f3 en cr\u00edtica y desprecio por ese gobierno. Empero, a pesar de que este \u00faltimo tema es el m\u00e1s importante, no es lo \u00fanico, ya que la riqueza de ideas expuestas por Carlos Astrada es tal, que consider\u00f3 oportuno exponer en esta investigaci\u00f3n la profundidad de las ideas astradianas.Con respecto a los aspectos pol\u00edticos, es oportuno se\u00f1alar que en el ensayo de 1948, la cosmovisi\u00f3n pol\u00edtica consta de dos partes, una negativa en la que Astrada expres\u00f3 los vicios y corruptelas que atentaron contra las normas de la convivencia social, y otra en la \u00abque traza los lineamientos b\u00e1sicos de la comunidad nacional, aquellos que derivan de sus esencias hist\u00f3ricas, del mandato del comienzo creador que la trajo a la vida y del impulso del mito que la informa\u00bb.Astrada elabor\u00f3 su idea con categor\u00edas ex\u00f3genas, pero el contenido y el sentido de la obra son end\u00f3genos. El Mito trata de la \u00abesencia argentina\u00bb, la cual se plasma en centro de fuerza, en un mito de la comunidad argentina como suma de supuestos an\u00edmicos referidos a los fines a los que nos orientamos \u00abhist\u00f3ricamente\u00bb. Entonces nuestro sentido hist\u00f3rico verdadero supondr\u00e1 asumir el mito, para auto comprendernos. No se trata del gaucho como representante del pasado sino como tipo de la argentinidad. Es el gaucho que \u00abdescubre\u00bb Astrada.Es de un tipo \u00e9tnico particular. Proviene de la hibridaci\u00f3n de soldados \u00e1rabe-andaluces con indios, y luego, de una nueva hibridaci\u00f3n en la llamada conquista del desierto.
