Redactado en una primera versi\u00f3n en 1929, el autor someti\u00f3 este ensayo a una profunda reelaboraci\u00f3n a lo largo de los a\u00f1os treinta \u2014cuando public\u00f3 obras tan fundamentales como El trabajador o Sobre los acantilados de m\u00e1rmol\u2014, y, finalmente, en 1938 sac\u00f3 a la luz esta segunda versi\u00f3n que se presenta ahora en una cuidad\u00edsima traducci\u00f3n.Bajo el ep\u00edgrafe de \u00abFiguras y caprichos\u00bb, las p\u00e1ginas de El coraz\u00f3n aventurero componen un fascinante caleidoscopio de reflexiones, anotaciones acerca de lecturas y personajes literarios, descripciones de paisajes y ciudades o meditaciones sobre las secretas afinidades que a un perspicaz observador de la naturaleza como J\u00fcnger no pasaban inadvertidas. Adem\u00e1s, la pasi\u00f3n que, como es sabido, sinti\u00f3 siempre por ciencias como la cristalograf\u00eda, la entomolog\u00eda o la bot\u00e1nica hacen que sus observaciones sobre plantas, animales o rocas se conviertan en aut\u00e9nticas reflexiones metaf\u00edsicas.
