Una serie autobiogr\u00e1fica que se desarrolla a lo largo de una serie de tomos, episodios cerrados e independientes, que se leen como novelas.El origen es una excavaci\u00f3n en los a\u00f1os de adolescencia de Thomas Bernhard. Una invectiva salvaje contra el sistema educativo en general, contra el nacionalismo y el catolicismo \u2014estas \u00abenfermedades\u00bb que el autor sit\u00faa en pie de igualdad como dos rituales igualmente lesivos para la dignidad humana\u2014, y contra Salzburgo, su ciudad adoptiva y cuasinatal, una ciudad s\u00edmbolo de la belleza, el arte y la cultura, pero en realidad un atroz dispositivo para el suicidio, un museo de la muerte. Se trata de un libro espeluznante en el que la palabra m\u00e1s frecuente quiz\u00e1 sea \u00abhorror\u00bb: no en vano, escribir, para Bernhard, consiste en una met\u00f3dica y posiblemente cat\u00e1rtica exploraci\u00f3n del horror. Pero es, a su vez, un libro admirablemente escrito, una muestra concluyente del virtuosismo verbal del autor. Las repeticiones obsesivas de determinadas palabras-clave, las variaciones que desarrollan en sus ampliaciones m\u00e1s significadas m\u00e1s profundas, las frases me\u00e1ndricas y la utilizaci\u00f3n paranoica de ciertas expresiones est\u00e1n ampliamente representadas, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n el certero instinto musical del autor. En El origen \u2014este incesante soliloquio de furor iconoclasta\u2014 se encuentra la clave para conocer el mundo de Thomas Bernhard. \u00abSus escritos autobiogr\u00e1ficos, de tomo en tomo m\u00e1s sobrios, m\u00e1s secos y m\u00e1s parcos en palabras, figuran ya entre las obras maestras de la literatura de este siglo\u00bb.
