Al poco andar, el protagonista advierte que en la calma de Tierra Amarilla, bajo el sol inclemente, se est\u00e1n fraguando oscuras transacciones y que tal vez la ins\u00f3lita presencia del chupacabras \u2014que as\u00ed llaman a la bestia\u2014 no sea otra cosa que un enga\u00f1o destinado a generar pavor para as\u00ed apropiarse del agua, el bien m\u00e1s preciado en aquel paisaje est\u00e9ril. La prosa envolvente y sinuosa de Germ\u00e1n Mar\u00edn nos introduce en un relato con implicancias pol\u00edticas y alusiones a los intereses econ\u00f3micos, al tiempo que nos permite ser testigos de un viaje sin retorno, un viaje por el que pululan los fantasmas de la vejez, el fracaso amoroso y la frustraci\u00f3n literaria. De su paso por Tierra Amarilla, Lleumo y Las Talas, el protagonista nunca volver\u00e1 a ser el mismo. Olvida la escritura \u2014\u201cesa vocaci\u00f3n idiota\u201d\u2014 y comienza a frecuentar un prost\u00edbulo en el que, junto a mineros, traficantes y mujeres de la vida, conocer\u00e1 una historia de alcances insospechados. Una vez m\u00e1s, Germ\u00e1n Mar\u00edn da muestras de su inagotable talento para combinar su imaginaci\u00f3n torcida, \u00fanica, con los horrores pol\u00edticos que sacudieron a nuestro pa\u00eds en el pasado reciente. Tierra Amarilla est\u00e1 escrita con la violencia y la libertad que han convertido a Mar\u00edn en un autor absolutamente radical, ineludible a la hora de explicar nuestra memoria y el desasosiego que nos embarga.
