Le Fanu est\u00e1 considerado como el iniciador de la ghost story contempor\u00e1nea, rodeando sus narraciones de un mundo est\u00e9ticamente coherente en el que lo sobrenatural fuese un fen\u00f3meno natural, de manera que tambi\u00e9n puede consider\u00e1rsele como el creador del cuento de miedo realista.
