Lo que nos revel\u00f3 nos habla de su nacimiento en Creta, su estancia en Italia y su viaje definitivo a Espa\u00f1a quiz\u00e1 para colaborar de alg\u00fan modo en la empresa del Escorial. Parece ser que estuvo en Madrid alguna vez que otra m\u00e1s despu\u00e9s de asentarse en Toledo. Apenas dej\u00f3 la ciudad del Tajo salvo para alg\u00fan breve viaje de trabajo.En Toledo conoci\u00f3 a la mujer que m\u00e1s am\u00f3, con la que vivi\u00f3 de por vida y la que le dio un hijo al que llamaron Jorge Manuel. Nunca explic\u00f3 el padre por qu\u00e9 no se cas\u00f3 nunca con do\u00f1a Jer\u00f3nima, ni c\u00f3mo pudo sobrevivir su amor en el ambiente mezquino que los acogi\u00f3. Tampoco nos dijo si estuvo a punto de volver a su patria viendo su obra rechazada por el rey, pero no por el pueblo, que siempre estuvo de su parte.La verdad es que pocos pintores han sido juzgados con tan distintos raseros, seg\u00fan el gusto y saber de cada \u00e9poca.A pesar de todo, al autor de este libro le ha sido preciso recurrir a la fantas\u00eda para llenar el lado oculto de tan oscura vida.
