A un editor siempre le resulta gratificante rescatar joyas literarias que, por diversas circunstancias, ya son inencontrables. \u00c9ste es el caso de El negrero, de Lino Nov\u00e1s Calvo, una novela que el propio autor subtitul\u00f3 vida novelada de Pedro Blanco Fern\u00e1ndez de Trava y que Alejo Carpentier calific\u00f3 de \u00abextraordinaria historia de aventuras ver\u00eddicas\u00bb. Pedro Blanco, hijo de un pobre marino de M\u00e1laga y de una mujer adinerada, queda muy pronto hu\u00e9rfano de padre. A\u00fan adolescente, tras ser expulsado del pueblo por esc\u00e1ndalo, deja atr\u00e1s a su madre y a su hermana Rosa. A partir de entonces su vida es un constante periplo que le llevar\u00e1 del Mediterr\u00e1neo a las Antillas. Aunque ya a principios del s. XIX aparecen las primeras leyes contra la trata de esclavos, Pedro quiere enrolarse en un barco negrero, pero antes se embarcar\u00e1 para Terranova, uno de los destinos m\u00e1s duros y peligrosos. Superada la temible prueba, se curte en todo tipo de barcos y sobrevive no s\u00f3lo a la rudeza del mar, sino a las epidemias, los motines de los esclavos, las traiciones y los piratas. Pero Pedro aspira a m\u00e1s y decide establecerse en \u00c1frica y crear su propia factor\u00eda de esclavos. Antes de alcanzar dinero y poder, entre constantes y salvajes guerras tribales, a\u00fan le esperan -a \u00e9l y al lector- toda suerte de inagotables e impensables aventuras. La ingente documentaci\u00f3n que Nov\u00e1s Calvo manej\u00f3 para escribir la historia de Pedro Blanco y su inmenso talento de fabulador confluyen aqu\u00ed en una aut\u00e9ntica obra maestra del g\u00e9nero.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
