Por entonces escrib\u00eda el dominico padre Lagrange: Sabida es de todos la impaciencia con que es esperada la publicaci\u00f3n de Jesucristo por el llorado padre De Grandmaison. Era la respuesta cat\u00f3lica a los ataques racionalistas. Si fue un acontecimiento en Francia la aparici\u00f3n de Jesucristo, lo fue en todo el mundo a trav\u00e9s de las ediciones en todas las lenguas cultas.Escrito en plena efervescencia de los ataques racionalistas, De Grandmaison no se dej\u00f3 vencer por el desaliento, ni se enfureci\u00f3 con anatemas contra los adversarios: \u00abBusc\u00f3 primero el reino de Dios y su justicia y todo lo dem\u00e1s, incluso la misma belleza literaria, se le dio por a\u00f1adidura\u00bb (R. Aigrain). JESUCRISTO, m\u00e1s que una \u00abvida\u00bb o \u00abbiograf\u00eda\u00bb de Jes\u00fas, con un orden cronol\u00f3gico, es un estudio cristol\u00f3gico apolog\u00e9tico, no superado en su conjunto, que sigue un plan l\u00f3gico: fuentes, medio ambiente, mensaje, persona de Jes\u00fas, sus pruebas y su obra. Abunda la informaci\u00f3n, resalta la viveza, valent\u00eda y precisi\u00f3n, y hasta el respeto y amor al adversario. De la magna obra en dos vol\u00famenes, sus disc\u00edpulos, con el padre Lebreton, extrajeron lo que, sin aparato cr\u00edtico, pod\u00edan leer los hombres y mujeres sin altos estudios.
