De Bart Helsip, coprotagonista con Larry Ballard de esta novela, pueden decirse muchas cosas; es m\u00e1s, su autor lo ha definido con palabras y a trav\u00e9s de su comportamiento. Record\u00e9moslo: Bart Helsip es negro, musculoso, de gran envergadura, especialmente inteligente y preciosista. Cree en la ley sin solemnidad y es fundamentalmente honesto. Adem\u00e1s tiene una novia, Corinne. Tambi\u00e9n negra. Dan Kearny, propietario de la agencia de detectives para la que Helsip trabaja, sabe que \u00e9ste se mueve en los ambientes negros con soltura y sentido del mimetismo. Pues bien, en Esquinazo Helsip comienza una rutinaria investigaci\u00f3n sobre un veh\u00edculo impago, lo recupera gan\u00e1ndose improperios a los que est\u00e1 acostumbrado (la v\u00edctima es racista) y la oscuridad. Aparentemente ha tenido un accidente y est\u00e1 en coma. El per\u00edodo m\u00e1ximo que podr\u00e1 resistir en ese estado es de 72 horas, despu\u00e9s ser\u00e1 irreversible. Ese es el tiempo de que dispone Larry Ballard, que en el momento en que se desarrolla esta historia tiene veinticinco a\u00f1os de edad, para atrapar al supuesto agresor. Kearny sigue de cerca la investigaci\u00f3n. Lo curioso de todo esto es que Bart Helsip, el protagonista, duerme durante todo el libro. Como el argumento consiste en narrar la investigaci\u00f3n que se lleva a cabo sobre sus pasos previos al golpe que le hizo perder la conciencia, bien podemos afirmar que se trata quiz\u00e1s de una de las pocas novelas policiales donde el protagonista est\u00e1 sin estar, est\u00e1 en coma, quiz\u00e1s se muera y no obstante, cada vez sus posibles e improbables pasos cobran mayor importancia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
