Los gauchos republicanos inician una revuelta en contra del imperio, declarando una guerra que durar\u00eda 10 largos e intensos a\u00f1os.En casa del General Bento Gon\u00e7alvez da Silva (l\u00edder del pueblo insurrecto), se quedan reunidas todas las mujeres de su familia, hermanas, Ana Joaquina y Maria, sobrinas, Rosario, Manuela y Mariana, esposa Caetana e hija, Perp\u00e9tua.La narradora de nuestra historia es Manuela, un chica de 16 a\u00f1os que vio como sus a\u00f1os de juventud y sus esperanzas por un amor que nunca regresar\u00eda (Giusseppe Garibaldi), se escapaban y se perd\u00edan hac\u00eda las inmensidades de la historia.
