P\u00e9rez-Foncea se adentra en la novela hist\u00f3rica tras un exitoso paso por el relato \u00e9pico juvenil, nos muestran adem\u00e1s el peligroso enfrentamiento estrat\u00e9gico que tuvo lugar entre el almirante y el envidioso virrey Eslava. Aunque tuvo raz\u00f3n en todas las decisiones que se tomaron seg\u00fan su criterio, y pese a ser la suya la victoria militar en cierto modo m\u00e1s importante en los cuatro siglos de presencia espa\u00f1ola en Am\u00e9rica, Blas de Lezo fue menospreciado por la Corte de Madrid y s\u00f3lo ahora se empieza a reivindicar su memoria a nivel popular.
