Su madre, cat\u00f3lica practicante y convencida, con unos principios morales pr\u00f3ximos a la \u00e9poca victoriana, trata de educarla inculc\u00e1ndole tan r\u00edgidas normas. Su padre, algo m\u00e1s liberal, trata de suavizar esa \u201crigidez\u201d y se sit\u00faa en un plano m\u00e1s pr\u00f3ximo a su hija, pero sus negocios s\u00f3lo le permiten estar con ella breves momentos al d\u00eda.Narrada en tres \u00e9pocas diferentes, nos va trasladando en el tiempo para que conozcamos el mundo de Cristina cuando era apenas una ni\u00f1a y cuando es una adolescente. Cristina, educada en ese ambiente cerrado, busca consciente o inconscientemente \u201cencender una luz\u201d que de alg\u00fan sentido a su vida.
