Bosquejos de cuentos, frases, argumentos, proyectos, descripciones y otros tesoros ocultos se encuentran en los cuadernos de apuntes que llev\u00f3 durante a\u00f1os el genial escritor norteamericano. A excepci\u00f3n de algunos pocos fragmentos, estos textos han permanecido in\u00e9ditos en castellano hasta la edici\u00f3n que el lector tiene en sus manos. Dijo Jorge Luis Borges que Hawthorne muri\u00f3 durmiendo y que tal vez por eso nos leg\u00f3 la tarea de so\u00f1ar.
