Seg\u00fan muchos, su mejor obra; y una de las cumbres de la m\u00edstica cristiana y de la prosa espa\u00f1ola del Siglo de Oro.A\u00f1o 1577, Espa\u00f1a, ciudad de Toledo. Teresa tiene 62 a\u00f1os, muchos achaques de salud y su obra de reformadora y fundadora peligra: la Inquisici\u00f3n la est\u00e1 mirando con malos ojos (han secuestrado su autobiograf\u00eda) y llueven ataques de los calzados y disgustos sin fin.Es en ese momento que Graci\u00e1n y otros de su entorno, que conocen lo que esta monja sabe y lo bien que se expresa, la empujan a escribir algo: aunque m\u00e1s no sea para sermonear un poco a sus hijas&#8230; A rega\u00f1adientes -como se ve en el pr\u00f3logo- Teresa obedece. Empieza en junio y se interrumpe a principios de julio, cuando debe viajar a su tierra natal, Avila. All\u00ed reanuda el libro a fines de octubre y lo termina en noviembre.Apenas dos meses netos de escritura, y en circunstancias adversas. No hay tiempo ni para corregir ni para releer&#8230; Pero el caso es que Teresa est\u00e1 inspirada : sus monjas se asombran al verla escribir rapid\u00edsimo, como si le dictaran. Y al final, ella misma se siente satisfecha con el resultado.No es para menos. Una de las obras cumbre de la literatura espa\u00f1ola del siglo de oro.Las Moradas son una alegor\u00eda de los grados de la vida espiritual, yendo desde la asc\u00e9tica hasta la m\u00edstica. Una doctrina segura, vivida; y en la pluma salerosa de Teresa.
