Sin embargo, durante casi veinte a\u00f1os, fue madurando su experiencia concentracionaria: \u00bfc\u00f3mo contar lo inenarrable? Por fin, en 1963, public\u00f3 en Francia El largo viaje (merecedor en 1964 del Premio Formentor y del Prix de la R\u00e9sistance): hab\u00eda hallado el modo de escribir el largo camino hacia el horror. Rescatamos, pues, un libro m\u00edtico e indispensable en la lucha del hombre contra el olvido.Corre el a\u00f1o 1943. En un angosto vag\u00f3n de mercanc\u00edas precintado, ciento veinte deportados cruzan las tierras francesas camino del campo de concentraci\u00f3n. Es un viaje claustrof\u00f3bico, vejatorio: los cuerpos hacinados caen de agotamiento, uno pierde la cuenta de los d\u00edas que lleva all\u00ed, y ni siquiera sabe d\u00f3nde ni cu\u00e1ndo acabar\u00e1. Y, no obstante, a veces, una simple palabra que pronuncia un compa\u00f1ero despierta toda clase de recuerdos, apenas lo \u00fanico que queda en esos momentos.
