La historia est\u00e1 narrada por un espectador cercano, adolescente tambi\u00e9n \u2014acaso el propio Soler\u2014, y se desarrolla en el entorno de uno de los barrios o mezcla de barrios con solera de la ciudad de M\u00e1laga: el contorno urbano que va desde el Camino de Antequera hasta el eje de las calles Mart\u00ednez Maldonado y Eugenio Gross.Hay m\u00faltiples historias dentro de esta novela, tantas como personajes tiene, y de \u00e9stos hay un buen mont\u00f3n. Aunque la trama gira en torno a un muchacho, pobre, dependiente de una droguer\u00eda, al que le extirpan un ri\u00f1\u00f3n y el vecino de cama en el hospital le regala un ejemplar de La Divina Comedia.
