Su denominaci\u00f3n de ejemplares obedece tanto a que son el primer ejemplo en castellano de este tipo de novelas como al car\u00e1cter did\u00e1ctico y moral que incluyen en alguna medida los relatos. Se suelen agrupar \u00e9stos en dos series: las de car\u00e1cter idealista y las de car\u00e1cter realista.Los primeras se caracterizan por tratar argumentos de enredos amorosos con gran abundancia de acontecimientos, por la presencia de personajes idealizados y sin evoluci\u00f3n psicol\u00f3gica y por el escaso reflejo de la realidad. Se agrupan aqu\u00ed: El amante liberal, Las dos doncellas, La espa\u00f1ola inglesa, La se\u00f1ora Cornelia y La fuerza de la sangre.Los relatos de car\u00e1cter realista atienden m\u00e1s a la descripci\u00f3n de ambientes y personajes realistas, con intenci\u00f3n cr\u00edtica muchas veces.
