Asistimos a los cambios de la id\u00edlica ciudad levantina de Serosca con motivo de la llegada de nuevas gentes.Esta obra relata la vida de una familia a trav\u00e9s de tres generaciones, en Serosca. La belleza de esta radica en la trama bien argumentada, en la mezcla perfecta de la iron\u00eda y el sentimiento. En la ciudad levantina de Serosca se encuentra don Arcadio, un hombre entrado en a\u00f1os, de aspecto un poco l\u00e1nguido y triste, que se hace notar cuando de su tierra Serosca se trata.Don Arcadio tiene un hijo llamado Agust\u00edn, que despu\u00e9s de seguir sus estudios normalmente, llega a convertirse en ingeniero. Agust\u00edn es la otra cara, opuesta al car\u00e1cter conservador y patriota de su padre.En un arranque de rebeld\u00eda en contra de los preceptos y reglas familiares se casa con Barcelona con una joven cubana que fallece en el momento del nacimiento de su hijo, tambi\u00e9n llamado Agust\u00edn. En medio de la tristeza y el abatimiento, Agust\u00edn hace un viaje a Filipinas donde muere.Don arcadio abuelo ahora de Agust\u00edn, lo educa tambi\u00e9n convirti\u00e9ndolo en ingeniero. Como si el sino de su padre lo fuera guiando paso a paso.
