El crimen y su estremecedor parecido con los cometidos a\u00f1os antes por Jack el Destripador despertaron la curiosidad del poeta y periodista Robert Desnos, que decidi\u00f3 investigar a su vez la historia de aquel legendario asesino del Londres Victoriano. En \u00faltima instancia, Desnos quer\u00eda demostrar que los procedimientos de los criminales s\u00e1dicos no hab\u00edan cambiado desde el Destripador y para ello estudi\u00f3, con las dotes de un monstruo mitad forense y mitad literato, los detalles y las variaciones de cada uno de aquellos homicidios. Este trabajo vio la luz a trav\u00e9s de una serie de nueve art\u00edculos period\u00edsticos sobre Jack el Destripador publicados en Par\u00eds-Matinal entre los meses de enero y febrero de 1928, y que ahora se traducen por primera vez al castellano. En todos ellos, tanto el ambiente del Londres de la \u00e9poca como los pormenores de los cr\u00edmenes son descritos de forma magn\u00edfica y reveladora.
