Unos pocos curiosos, desde los acantilados o desde los escasos veleros fondeados en la bah\u00eda, aplauden lo que creen es el final feliz del rescate de una joven atrapada en una playa abrupta y de dif\u00edcil acceso. En realidad, la mujer ha sido asesinada y, seg\u00fan todos los indicios, torturada y violada. Su desnudo cuerpo no arroja pista alguna sobre su identidad. El agente Nick Ingram, encargado de la investigaci\u00f3n, recela enseguida de un joven actor que paseaba por el lugar de los hechos. La llegada del padre conducir\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n hasta la mujer de la playa, que es, en realidad, la madre de la ni\u00f1a. A la polic\u00eda tampoco le pasa por alto que la peque\u00f1a se siente aterrorizada cada vez que su padre se le acerca; un dato revelador que se suma a otras oscuras circunstancias, como el hecho de que el marido no posea una coartada sostenible.
