A partir de la Edad Moderna, las corrientes filos\u00f3ficas de los pensadores ingleses se han caracterizado por unos planteamientos y desarrollos propios que le distinguen de las corrientes continentales, a pesar de que en ciertos momentos cruciales las relaciones entre ambas direcciones han tenido consecuencias de gran valor te\u00f3rico. El autor estudia en primer lugar el empirismo, desde los utilitaristas hasta los evolucionistas y positivistas. Le sigue una exposici\u00f3n del idealismo brit\u00e1nico y norteamericano y del movimiento pragmatista. En sus \u00faltimos cap\u00edtulos analiza la corriente realista desde G. E. Moore a Bertrand Russell, a quien dedica un estudio exhaustivo con algunas referencias a las l\u00edneas fundamentales de los planteamientos de Wittgenstein.
