No es necesario citar nombres como los de Borges y Cort\u00e1zar para confirmarlo. Gran parte de los principales autores latinoamericanos \u2014desde Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez hasta Ernesto S\u00e1bato, solo por citar un par de nombres\u2014, han recurrido frecuentemente a la fantas\u00eda en sus escritos.La fantas\u00eda y la ciencia ficci\u00f3n latinoamericana ha conocido \u00faltimamente una gran auge; sin embargo, buena parte de ella es desconocida a\u00fan m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su pa\u00eds de origen. Esta recopilaci\u00f3n pretende paliar en lo posible este defecto. Augusto Uribe, uno de los principales especialistas espa\u00f1oles del g\u00e9nero que mayor contacto tiene con los pa\u00edses sudamericanos, ha recopilado, le\u00eddo y seleccionado entre varios centenares de relatos de la m\u00e1s diversa procedencia para formar este volumen donde se recoge, a trav\u00e9s de casi una veintena de textos, lo mejor y m\u00e1s caracter\u00edstico de la ciencia ficci\u00f3n y la fantas\u00eda del cono sur del continente americano. Aqu\u00ed se hallan recogidos nombres como los de Ang\u00e9lica Gorodischer, considerada como la Ursuia LeGuin hispana; Andr\u00e9 Carneiro, el mejor autor fant\u00e1stico en lengua portuguesa; Marcial Souto, incansable impulsor de publicaciones de fantas\u00eda y ciencia ficci\u00f3n; el especialista Elvio E.
