Desde el relato de la formaci\u00f3n caballeresca del joven Perceval, crecido en la Yerma Floresta Solitaria al margen de la vida de la corte, al de las aventuras de Galv\u00e1n, el noble sobrino del rey Arturo, Chr\u00e9tien de Troyes teje una fascinante red de sucesos caballerescos y misteriosos que captura poderosamente la atenci\u00f3n del lector. El silencio de Perceval ante el desfile del extra\u00f1o cortejo del grial constituye el inicio de una serie de acontecimientos y aventuras que la muerte del autor dej\u00f3 inconclusos e inexplicados. Sobre la creaci\u00f3n de Chr\u00e9tien y la de sus varios continuadores arrojan luz la esclarecedora introducci\u00f3n y las notas con que Mart\u00edn de Riquer ha acompa\u00f1ado su traducci\u00f3n de \u00abLi contes del graal\u00bb.
